Model the Way: Leaders establish personal values and establish standards of excellence while then setting themselves as the example for others to follow. Leaders focus more on “showing” how it is done rather than “saying” how it should be done.
Inspire a Shared Vision: Leaders envision the future and create an ideal image of what the future can hold. They convey their ideas and thoughts to others to create a common dream and plan for how to attain that dream. Challenge the Process: Leaders look for new ways and ideas to solve a problem and/or improve an organization. Rather than do what has been done, leaders craft a new way of thinking and completing tasks that involves a lot of risk but potentially a lot of reward. Enable Others to Act: Leaders actively involve others in their plans for success and strive to build bonds of trust and accountability. They are able to give courage to others to believe in their own dreams and give them the ability to achieve those goals. Encourage the Heart: Leaders understand that team success comes from the effort of individuals and that this needs to be recognized and celebrated. They celebrate the accomplishments of the group but point out individual efforts to make those feel important and heroic in the eyes of others. |
