The leadership exercise, "Platform See Saw", where group members must find a way to stand on a large platform that shifts, like a see saw, as players move around. The objective was simple; one by one group members would step on to the platform until all the players were standing on it. The challenge was to get everybody on without having either side hit the ground. The purpose of the exercise was to get all group members on the unstable platform while trying to minimize the amount of times the sides hit the ground. The challenge was inclusive as it could not be completed without everyone's participation. In order to complete this task the group members
must feel empowered to make decisions and feel as if they make a difference within the group. The challenge must be completed while following rules and guidelines therefore it was ethical in that all group members completed the task the right way. Finally, the challenge involved a process of group members going on the platform not only one by one to reduce movement, but also in a certain order to distribute weight differences more efficiently. A leader in this exercise would know of the 5 components of the leadership model and use them along with knowledge of the skills needed to complete the challenge. A leader would be person to exemplify the 5 leadership parts to lead the group to success. Finally a leader would use both knowing and being to actually do the challenge and complete it in an effective and efficient manner.
